What it is and who needs it

This pack contains three USB 3.0 Type A male-to-male extension cables, each 1.6 feet long. They connect USB 3.0 peripherals such as external hard drives, hubs, cameras or VR headsets to a host computer. The cables suit desktop or laptop users who need a short reach to bridge a port gap. They are not for buyers who need longer runs or a different connector type.

Practical limits of USB 3.0

The cable supports SuperSpeed data transfer up to 5 Gbps when both the host port and the device are USB 3.0 compliant. It remains backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 ports, though speeds will fall to the older standard. Nickel-plated connectors and foil-and-braid shielding aim to preserve signal integrity. The 1.6-foot length keeps the link within the USB 3.0 specification for passive cables.

The specification that decides fit

Connector 1 is a USB 3.0 Type A male plug; the mating end is the same. If your peripheral or host uses Type B, Micro-B, Type C or any proprietary connector, this cable will not mate. Verify both ends require a standard Type A socket before purchase.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 1.6Ft length in this 3-pack or look for a longer cable?

The 1.6Ft length keeps signal quality high for USB 3.0 speeds and suits desktop setups where the peripheral sits close to the host.

Will I actually see 5Gbps transfer rates with this cable?

You will reach 5Gbps only when both the host port and the connected device are USB 3.0 compliant; otherwise the link falls back to USB 2.0 or 1.1 speeds.

Does the USB 3.0 Type A male-to-male interface limit what I can plug in?

The cable only fits devices with a USB 3.0 Type A female port, so it cannot connect directly to Type C, Micro-B or proprietary connectors.
