What this cable does and who uses it

This USB4 cable connects two USB-C ports with a right-angle plug on one end. It carries 40 Gbps data, up to 240 W power and 8K video at 60 Hz or 4K at 144 Hz. It suits laptop owners, dock users and anyone linking high-speed storage or external displays to a Type-C host.

Practical limits of the USB4 interface

Full 40 Gbps speed and 240 W charging only work when both host and device support USB4 Gen3x2 and the matching power rules. Video requires the host port to implement DisplayPort Alternate Mode; without it the cable carries data and power but no picture. Older USB 3.2, 3.1 or 2.0 gear functions at its own rated speeds and power levels.

The spec that decides fit

The right-angle USB-C connector measures 90 degrees; verify the port clearance on your laptop, dock or monitor before buying. If a straight plug is needed, this cable will not seat correctly.

Questions about this item

Should I pick this 5 ft cable or a shorter length for my desk setup?

The cable is 5 ft long with a 90-degree right-angle connector that keeps the plug close to the device, so it stays tidy on a typical desk without excess slack.

What does the 40 Gbps rating mean when I copy files between my laptop and an external SSD?

With a USB4 Gen3x2 host and drive you can reach 40 Gbps bi-directional, moving multi-gigabyte projects in seconds rather than minutes.

Does the USB-C connector limit the 240 W charging or 8K video in any way?

The cable carries up to 240 W Power Delivery and supports 8K at 60 Hz or 4K at 144 Hz, provided both host and display support DisplayPort Alternate Mode.
