Cable purpose and audience

This USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 cable connects Thunderbolt 3 or 4 laptops and tablets to DisplayPort monitors. It supports DP Alt Mode sources such as MacBook Pro models from 2017 and 2018, Dell XPS 13 and 15, and recent iPad Pro devices. The cable is not bi-directional and cannot drive a USB-C monitor from a DisplayPort output.

Bandwidth and resolution headroom

DisplayPort 1.4 technology delivers 32.4Gbps bandwidth with DSC 1.2 compression up to 3:1 for visually lossless output. Supported modes include 7680x4320 at 60Hz, 5120x2880 at 60Hz, 3840x2160 at 144Hz, 120Hz and 60Hz, and 2560x1440 at 240Hz, 165Hz, 144Hz, 120Hz and 60Hz. The host and display must both support the chosen resolution and refresh rate.

Physical build and length

A 6.6ft braided jacket protects the conductors during daily connection and disconnection. The connectors carry the USB-C and DisplayPort common protocol logos to indicate DP Alt Mode compliance. No additional adapters or software are included in the package.

Questions about this item

Will the 32.4Gbps bandwidth work with my older DisplayPort 1.2 monitor at 2560x1440@144Hz?

Yes, the cable is backward compatible and will deliver 2560x1440 at 144Hz over DisplayPort 1.2 using the available 32.4Gbps bandwidth.

How can I verify the cable is delivering 7680x4320@60Hz after connecting my 8K monitor?

Check your OS display settings or monitor on-screen menu to confirm the active resolution reads 7680x4320 at 60Hz with 10-bit colour HDR enabled.

Does the 6.6FT braided cable include any adapters or is it a single USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 cord?

It is a single USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 cable with no extra adapters; the USB-C source must support DP Alt Mode for video output.
