What this cable delivers

This SMUGDESK USB4 cable carries Thunderbolt 4 signals at 40 Gbps and supports 240 W power delivery. It is built for users who need maximum throughput and fast charging between compatible hosts and peripherals.

The specification that decides fit

The cable provides 40 Gbps bandwidth and 240 W charging in a 1.5 FT length. It drives a single 8K@60 Hz or 5K@60 Hz display, or dual 4K@60 Hz displays when the host supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode.

Who should buy and who should not

Suits professionals connecting Thunderbolt 3 or 4 docks, high-speed storage or 8K monitors to laptops such as MacBook Pro, iMac or Windows Thunderbolt systems. Not for buyers who need a longer reach than 1.5 FT or whose USB-C ports lack video Alt Mode support.

Questions about this item

What does the 40Gbps rating mean when I plug this cable into my laptop and monitor?

The 40Gbps bandwidth lets you drive one 8K@60Hz or 5K@60Hz display, or two 4K@60Hz screens at the same time, provided your USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode.

How does the Thunderbolt 4 interface limit charging speed in daily use?

The cable carries up to 240W of power, so it can charge even large laptops at full speed while simultaneously moving data at 40Gbps.

Will the 1.5 FT length reach from my desk dock to a monitor arm mount?

At 1.5 FT the cable is quite short; it works best when the host and display or dock sit right next to each other on the same surface.
