USB4 V2 80Gbps cable purpose
This USB4 Version 2.0 cable connects USB-C devices such as the iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPad Pro, MacBook Pro and Thunderbolt 5, 4 or 3 hosts. It carries data, power and video through a single super-soft braided lead. The integrated E-marker chip enables Power Delivery 3.1 negotiation up to 240W at 48V5A. It is built for users who need maximum bandwidth and high-watt charging in one flexible cable.
Bandwidth and protocol limits
The cable reaches 80Gbps only when both host and peripheral support USB4 Version 2.0 or Thunderbolt 5; otherwise it falls back to 40, 20, 10 or 5Gbps. Video output requires the USB-C port to implement DisplayPort Alternate Mode; without that feature no external display signal is transmitted. Dual-monitor configurations need two separate cables. The PD 3.1 implementation is backward compatible with PD 3.0 and 2.0 devices at 140W, 100W or 60W.
Capacity headroom for data power video
At full specification the link moves large media libraries in seconds and drives a single 8K display at 60Hz or two 4K displays at 60Hz simultaneously. The 240W ceiling charges high-performance laptops and lower-power phones alike. When either end lacks USB4 Version 2.0 or Thunderbolt 5 capability, throughput drops to the highest mutually supported rate. Ports without DisplayPort Alternate Mode cannot use the video function at all.

Questions about this item
What does 80 Gbps mean when I plug this cable into my laptop?
The 80 Gbps rating is the peak bandwidth under the USB4 Version 2.0 standard. Actual transfer speed depends on the host controller, the connected device, and the cable length; both ends must support the same generation to reach the maximum.
How does the 240 W charging work in practice?
An integrated E-marker chip enables USB Power Delivery 3.1 at up to 48 V / 5 A. The source and the device negotiate the highest mutually supported level, so a 140 W laptop will draw 140 W, a 100 W laptop 100 W, and lower-power gear its rated maximum.
What video modes can the Thunderbolt connection carry?
The cable supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode over Thunderbolt 5, 4 and 3, driving one 8K display at 60 Hz or two 4K displays at 60 Hz simultaneously. Both the host port and the monitor must implement DP Alt Mode for video to function.
