SocketScan 740 1D/2D imager scanner

The SocketScan 740 is a wireless handheld imager that reads both 1D and 2D barcodes. It connects via Bluetooth to Android, Windows and Apple-certified iOS devices. The omnidirectional LED aimer works on curved or translucent surfaces without requiring precise alignment. This scanner suits retail, logistics and field-service workers who need cordless freedom.

Antimicrobial housing with replaceable AA NiMH cells

The case uses antimicrobial material for shared environments. Two rechargeable AA NiMH batteries deliver over 16 hours of operation and can be swapped without tools. LEDs, beeps and vibration give immediate feedback on battery level, Bluetooth link and scan success. Presentation mode enables continuous hands-free scanning when the unit rests in its stand.

Low power draw and quiet operation in daily use

The imager draws minimal current, so the AA cells last a full shift without recharging. No cooling fan is present, keeping the device silent during scanning and idle periods. Vibration alerts replace audible beeps in noise-sensitive settings. Bluetooth connectivity adds no measurable heat to the host device.

Questions about this item

How does the Bluetooth connection perform when scanning barcodes continuously?

What physical space and mounting options does the scanner need?

The handheld unit weighs 0.55 lb and fits in one hand; it has no fixed mount, so it can be used free‑hand or placed on a counter for presentation‑mode scanning.

Insert the two included AA NiMH rechargeable batteries, charge them fully, then pair via Bluetooth — skipping the full charge is the step most often missed.
