M.2 2230 Wi-Fi card for Intel 8265NGW slot

This new SOEWIOU adapter uses the Intel 8265NGW controller in an M.2 2230 form factor. It provides dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi with 2x2 MU-MIMO streams up to 867 Mbps. The card connects via PCIe for Wi-Fi and USB for Bluetooth. It includes two antennas with cables and mounting screws.

Suits laptops or small desktops

Buyers needing a drop-in wireless upgrade for a compatible Intel platform will find this card matches the 22mm x 30mm footprint. It supports Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 64-bit plus Linux. Systems lacking an M.2 2230 slot wired for PCIe and USB, or requiring a different keying, cannot use this adapter.

Deciding spec is the M.2 2230 key-E interface

The board measures 22mm x 30mm x 2.4mm and uses the M.2 2230 form factor. Wi-Fi runs over PCIe while Bluetooth uses USB, so the host slot must expose both interfaces. Without that exact slot wiring the card will not function, regardless of operating-system support.

Questions about this item

Does the SOEWIOU Intel 8265NGW M.2 2230 Wi-Fi adapter come with antennas and screws, or must I buy them separately?

The package includes one Intel 8265NGW NGFF card, two antennas with cables, and some screws, so no extra parts are required for a typical installation.

Should I choose the M.2 2230 or M.2 1216 form factor for my laptop slot?

The card supports both M.2 2230 (22 mm × 30 mm × 2.4 mm) and M.2 1216 (12 mm × 16 mm × 1.8 mm) keying; pick the size that matches your motherboard slot.

What does the 867 Mbps rating mean for real-world throughput on my Windows 10 laptop?

867 Mbps is the maximum PHY link speed under 802.11ac 2×2 MU-MIMO; actual throughput will be lower due to overhead, distance, interference, and the 5 GHz band conditions.
