Family communication kit

This two-pack of SOEWIOU T5 two-way radios gives families and groups a simple way to stay in touch during outdoor activities. Each unit operates on 22 FRS channels with 99 CTCSS privacy codes, providing up to 2178 combinations to reduce interference. The orange colour makes them easy to spot in a bag or on a trail.

Ready for the trail

The radios run on four AAA batteries per unit, which are not supplied, so buyers need to add their own cells before heading out. A 2.5 mm earphone jack allows a headset for quieter listening, while the built-in LED flashlight adds a convenient light source. Voice-activated transmission with three sensitivity levels frees hands for hiking, cycling or camping tasks.

Everyday durability

Water-resistant construction helps the units cope with splashes or light rain during normal use. The compact 5.9 in by 2.16 in by 5.9 in body fits easily in a pocket or pack, and the back-lit LCD screen remains readable in low light. Typical range reaches 0.5 to 1 mile in built-up areas and up to 3 miles in open terrain, depending on obstacles.

Questions about this item

How many channel and privacy-code combinations can the T5 use to avoid other conversations?

The radios offer 22 FRS channels and 99 CTCSS tones, giving up to 2178 combinations to block unwanted talk.

What happens to battery life and heat when the VOX hands-free mode runs continuously all day?

Each unit takes four AAA cells; continuous VOX transmission will drain them faster and the chassis may warm up during extended use.

Which earphone plug size fits the T5's audio jack for private listening?

The radio has a 2.5 mm (0.1 in) earphone jack, so a standard 2.5 mm headset connector is required.
