Two-way radios for outdoor groups

This pair of FRS handsets gives families, hikers and campers a simple way to stay in contact without relying on mobile coverage. Each unit offers 22 channels and 99 CTCSS privacy codes for up to 2178 combinations, reducing interference from other users. The VOX function with three sensitivity levels enables hands-free operation while biking or paddling. A backlit LCD and built-in LED flashlight add convenience after dark.

Range in real conditions

In open terrain such as fields or waterfront the radios can reach up to 3 miles, while in built-up areas the practical range falls to between .6 and 1.2 miles. Obstacles such as buildings, vehicles and heavy foliage reduce the distance further, so the stated maximum applies only to clear line-of-sight situations.

Power and durability

Each radio runs on four AAA batteries (not supplied) and includes a 2.5 mm earphone jack for private listening. The water-resistant shell is drop-resistant and designed for regular outdoor use, while the green backlit display remains readable in low light without drawing excessive current.
