Enterprise 240 GB SATA M.2 2280 SSD with 144L TLC 3D NAND, 2,000,000-hour MTBF and end-to-end data protection for server continuity
The Solidigm D3-S4520 is a 240GB enterprise solid-state drive built for data-centre servers. It uses a SATA III interface in an M.2 2280 form factor with 144L TLC 3D NAND. The drive targets workloads that demand consistent uptime and data integrity over raw capacity or peak throughput.
This drive fits administrators who prioritise a 2,000,000-hour MTBF and firmware updates without a server reset. It operates from 0°C to 70°C and tolerates 1,000 G shock. Buyers who need larger capacities or a PCIe interface should consider other models.
The single specification that decides fit is the SATA III interface. The motherboard or backplane must provide a SATA-connected M.2 slot; a PCIe-only M.2 slot will not work. Verify the host connector type before purchase.

Insert the drive into an M.2 slot wired for SATA at a 20-degree angle, then secure it with the screw; the common mistake is using a slot that only supports PCIe, which will not detect the drive.
The 144L TLC 3D NAND has a finite write endurance; plan to replace the drive once its SMART media-wear indicator approaches the rated limit to avoid unexpected failure.
The SATA III interface caps sequential throughput at 6 Gb/s, so the bus saturates before the 144L TLC 3D NAND or thermal throttling at 70°C becomes the bottleneck.
