Adds up to two 6Gbps SATA SSDs via a PCIe 2.0 x2 slot with data rates up to 660MBps and boot support
This expansion card adds one or two 6Gbps SATA SSDs to a Mac Pro desktop PC or Thunderbolt expansion chassis using a PCI Express 2.0 x2 host bus connection. The modular design fits half-length slots with a single drive or full-length spaces when the extension plate is attached for two drives.
The card delivers data transfer speeds up to 660MBps over the PCIe 2.0 x2 link rather than relying on burst figures alone. AHCI compliance means no drivers are required and the hardware supports OS X and Windows RAID features as well as booting from attached drives under OS X or Windows 7 and 8.
Each attached SSD is limited to the SATA 6Gbps interface maximum so the practical ceiling is set by that device standard rather than the host bus. The card is optimised for Sonnet Echo Express and xMac mini Server Thunderbolt enclosures but cannot exceed the throughput of the drives themselves.
Measured against everything we stock in PCIe Expansion Cards, at today’s prices. Recalculated every night.

The card has no fan and no moving parts, so it runs silently and adds only minimal heat to the chassis during continuous operation.
You need one or two 6Gbps SATA SSDs, a free PCIe x2 slot, and an operating system with AHCI support such as Windows 7, 8 or OS X.
Yes, the controller is backward compatible, so a 3Gbps drive will function at its native speed while the card still delivers up to 660MBps for 6Gbps SSDs.
