Professional 61MP Full-Frame Mirrorless Body

The Sony Alpha a7R IV is a compact mirrorless camera built around a 61.0-megapixel 35-millimeter back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor. It captures up to 10 frames per second at full resolution with continuous AE/AF tracking. The BIONZ X processor handles area-specific noise reduction for fine detail. It records 4K UHD video at 2160p and Full HD at 1080p.

High-Resolution Specialists Need Apply

This body suits professionals who demand maximum resolution for large prints, cropping flexibility or detailed commercial work. The 5.76-million-dot OLED Tru-Finder and 567 phase-detection plus 425 contrast-detection AF points support precise composition. Buyers who need higher continuous speeds, lower file sizes or a smaller investment for general photography should look at something else.

Native E-Mount Lens Required

Installation is limited to attaching a compatible Sony E-mount lens and inserting a memory card; the body has no fixed lens. The menu system allows setting changes while shooting. What usually goes wrong is underestimating the storage and processing demands of 61-megapixel files or selecting lenses that cannot resolve the sensor’s detail.
