What the product is and who it is for

The Sony FDR-AX43 bundle supplies a UHD 4K Handycam with a built-in gimbal, 8.29-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor and ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* 20x optical zoom lens. It records XAVC S 4K at 24 or 30 fps up to 100 Mb/s and captures 16.6MP stills. The kit adds a 64GB Extreme PRO card, NP-FV70 battery, wide-angle and telephoto converters, filters, soft bag, charger, reader, micro HDMI cable, flexible tripod, card wallet and cleaning kit.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This package suits solo creators, event videographers and travellers who want steady handheld 4K footage with long zoom reach and a complete accessory set in one purchase. It is not for users who need higher 4K frame rates, 10-bit recording, professional audio inputs or a larger sensor for shallow depth of field.

The specification that decides the purchase

The decisive spec is the built-in Balanced Optical SteadyShot gimbal combined with 20x optical zoom in 4K, delivering stabilised long-range footage without external gear.

Questions about this item

Will the 20x optical zoom on this Handycam work with my older 1080p external monitor for framing shots?

The ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* lens provides 20x optical zoom in 4K and up to 250x digital zoom in HD, so you can frame on a 1080p monitor using the HD output while recording 4K internally.

How can I confirm the Balanced Optical SteadyShot gimbal is stabilising correctly during a shoot?

Engage the gimbal and pan while watching the LCD; the preview should remain steady without the jitter seen when stabilisation is off, and recorded 4K footage at 30 fps will play back smoothly.

Which accessories in the bundle let me start recording 4K immediately, and what must I add?

The box includes the camcorder, a 64GB Extreme PRO card, NP-FV70 battery, external charger, micro HDMI cable, and lenses — everything needed for 4K at 100 Mb/s; no extra purchases required.
