System layout

The Sony HT-A9M2 is a 4.0.4 channel BRAVIA Theater Quad Soundbar system composed of four slim speakers. It targets listeners who want immersive spatial audio from a wireless speaker array rather than a single bar. Buyers needing a traditional one-piece soundbar or a system with a dedicated subwoofer channel will find this configuration unsuitable.

Connectivity and daily operation

The system provides one HDMI input and one HDMI output with eARC support for lossless audio return. Wireless links via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth handle streaming, while a USB port allows local playback. BRAVIA Sync enables unified control with compatible Sony televisions, and the digital S-Master HX amplifier drives 16 speaker units across the four modules.

Sustained performance

360 Spatial Sound Mapping analyses the room and calibrates each of the 16 drivers for consistent surround rendering during long sessions. Sound Field Optimization maintains tonal balance as content shifts between cinema, music and voice modes. The 5.7 kg total mass per speaker and passive thermal design keep operation stable without active cooling noise.

Questions about this item

How do I place the four slim speakers for 360 Spatial Sound Mapping, and what step is often missed?

Position each 11.50"W x 5.13"D x 12.13"H speaker around the room, then run Sound Field Optimization so the system measures reflections and builds the 360 map — skipping this calibration leaves the spatial audio unaligned.

What part of the 16 speaker units will need attention over time?

The 16 driver cones and their surrounds can accumulate dust; gently vacuum the grilles and wipe cabinets with the included 6.8oz 200ml cleaner to maintain output clarity.

What limit appears first during a long movie session at high volume?

The digital amplifier’s thermal protection engages before clipping, muting output briefly until the chassis cools — ensure at least 5 cm clearance around each unit.
