Sony Bravia 8 QD-OLED 55" 4K 120Hz

The Sony Bravia 8 K55XR80M2 is a 55-inch QD-OLED television from the 2025 XR80M2 series. It combines self-illuminating pixels with Quantum Dot technology for high brightness and pure black levels. The XR Processor uses AI scene recognition to optimise picture quality. Google TV provides a smart platform with voice control, AirPlay 2 and Google Cast support.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This set suits viewers who want the brightest OLED picture with deep colours for movies and gaming at 120Hz. The four HDMI inputs and Auto HDR Tone Mapping serve PlayStation 5 owners well. Buyers needing a smaller screen size or a different panel technology should consider other models.

XR Contrast Booster with QD-OLED panel

The XR Contrast Booster precisely controls light output across millions of self-illuminating Quantum Dot pixels. This delivers brighter highlights while maintaining perfect blacks. The panel reaches 120Hz refresh rate for blur-free motion. XR Triluminous MAX expands the colour volume for lifelike images.

Questions about this item

How bright does the 55" QD-OLED panel get in a living room?

The XR Contrast Booster drives each self-illuminating pixel for pure blacks and higher peak brightness than conventional OLED, so highlights stay vivid even with lights on.

What does the 120Hz refresh rate actually deliver over HDMI?

Four HDMI inputs support 4K 120Hz signals, letting PS5 and PC games run at their full frame rate without tearing or judder.

Will the included stand clear a soundbar on my cabinet?

Yes — the stand is built to accommodate a soundbar underneath, and the 2.5m Austere HDMI cable reaches most AV layouts without strain.
