98 Inch Mini LED 4K Google TV

The Sony K98XR50 is a 98 inch LCD television built around a Mini LED panel driven by the XR Processor. It targets viewers who want a very large screen with high brightness and wide colour volume for movies, streaming and gaming in a dedicated living room or media space.

Austere 2.5m 8K HDMI cable adds VRR and eARC

The bundled Austere VII Series cable is 2.5 metres long and rated for 8K bandwidth. It enables Variable Refresh Rate, Auto Latency Mode and Quick Media Switching between the TV and a console or PC. Its High-Fidelity eARC implementation carries lossless audio formats to a compatible soundbar or receiver without a separate optical link.

Suits buyers wanting a single-cable 120Hz 4K

This combination works for owners of a PlayStation 5 or modern graphics card who need one certified cable for 4K at 120Hz with VRR and eARC. It does not suit installations where the source sits farther than 2.5 metres from the display, nor buyers who require longer certified runs or additional HDMI ports beyond the four on the TV.

Questions about this item

How often will the XR Processor AI need updates or servicing?

The XR Processor with AI Technology is integrated into the TV and receives automatic software updates via Wi-Fi 6; no user maintenance or replacement is required.

What limits the Mini LED brightness during extended HDR sessions?

The XR Backlight Drive manages Mini LED output dynamically; sustained peak brightness is regulated by thermal protection built into the panel.

How loud are the built-in speakers and cooling fans when the TV runs all day?

The 2-speaker Acoustic Multi-Audio system uses S-Force Front Simulated Surround with no internal cooling fans, so only programme audio is heard.
