98" Mini LED 4K Google TV

The Sony K98XR50 is a 98-inch LCD television with a 4K panel and a 120Hz native refresh rate. It runs the Google TV smart platform and includes four HDMI inputs, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The XR Contrast Booster and XR Triluminos Pro technologies enhance contrast and colour volume for detailed picture quality.

Sustained brightness and colour performance

The Mini LED backlight works with the XR Contrast Booster to maintain deep blacks and bright highlights during extended viewing sessions. XR Triluminos Pro expands the colour palette continuously, while XR Clear Image upscaling analyses each frame to reduce noise and preserve natural textures over long periods.

HDMI 120Hz interface limits

Four HDMI ports accept 4K signals at up to 120Hz, enabling high-frame-rate sources without exceeding the panel's maximum 3840 x 2160 resolution. The 16:9 aspect ratio is fixed, so ultra-wide content will display with letterboxing. Wireless and wired network connections support streaming, but bandwidth depends on the local router and internet service.

Questions about this item

How much power does the 98" Mini LED panel draw when running all day?

The TV uses a 120Hz Mini LED panel with XR Contrast Booster for deep blacks and bright highlights; power consumption varies with picture mode and ambient light settings.

Which devices must I already own to use the four HDMI inputs and Google TV features?

Connect consoles, streaming sticks, or a PC via the four HDMI ports; Google TV runs on the set itself and only needs a Wi-Fi or Ethernet link for apps and updates.

Will my older 1080p Blu-ray player and game consoles look good on the 3840 x 2160 screen?

XR Clear Image upscales 1080p and lower sources toward 4K using AI-based detail analysis, while the 120Hz panel handles legacy 60Hz signals without judder.
