Open-back earbuds for portable listening

These Sony MDR-E9LP headphones are wired earbuds with an open-back design and a 3.5 mm plug. They suit listeners who prefer a lighter, airier sound signature while commuting or working at a desk. The white finish matches pale device colours.

Open-back design and 3.5 mm plug

The open-back construction lets ambient sound reach the ear so users stay aware of surroundings. The 3.5 mm connector fits phones, laptops and portable players without an adapter. No inline remote, microphone or carrying case is included.

3.5 mm analogue connection

The single decisive specification is the 3.5 mm analogue jack. Buyers whose devices lack a headphone socket cannot use these earbuds directly. Those needing a detachable cable, wireless operation or active noise cancellation should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Will the open-back ear pads need replacing after long use?

The open-back design uses foam pads that can wear or compress over time; replacement pads are available from Sony or third parties.

What limits listening volume before distortion appears?

The 3.5 mm passive connection relies on the source device's output stage, so maximum clean volume is set by that device's amplifier.

Do the drivers get warm or draw noticeable power during all-day sessions?

Passive wired operation draws only the signal current from the source, so the drivers stay cool and add no measurable power draw.
