Sony 720p indoor minidome

The Sony SNC-VM601 is a 720p HD network minidome camera designed for indoor surveillance. Powered by IPELA ENGINE EX, it delivers 60 fps video with a 3 to 9mm varifocal lens. View-DR technology provides 130dB wide dynamic range for challenging lighting. IK10 impact resistance protects the housing in vulnerable locations.

Network and power requirements

Verify that your network infrastructure supports PoE or that you can supply DC12V or AC24V power at the mounting point. The camera uses JPEG and MPEG4 triple streaming, so confirm your recorder or VMS handles these codecs. Ensure cabling reaches the installation site and that the optional flush-mount kit UNI-ILD3C3 fits your ceiling type if recessed mounting is planned.

Upgrade from analogue or fixed-lens cameras

This model replaces older analogue dome cameras or fixed-lens IP units that lack varifocal flexibility and wide dynamic range. The jump is worth it when you need adjustable field of view, 0.05 lx colour sensitivity and 130dB View-DR for strong backlight scenes. It is not for installations requiring higher than 720p resolution or outdoor weather-rated housings.

Questions about this item

Does the SNC-VM601 come with a mounting kit or do I need to buy the UNI-ILD3C3 plenum flush mount separately?

The camera body is supplied alone; the UNI-ILD3C3 plenum-rated flush mount kit is an optional accessory that must be purchased separately.

The spec lists 720p at 60 fps — is that the only resolution and frame-rate combination available?

The camera streams at 720p HD resolution up to 60 frames per second using JPEG or MPEG-4 triple-stream encoding.

What does the 0.05 lux minimum illumination figure mean for night-time footage?

At 0.05 lux the camera still captures colour video, and the True Day/Night function switches to monochrome when light drops further.
