  • Clear dialogue with 0.98 in soft dome tweeter

  • Wide soundstage via Super Tweeter dispersion
  • Clean low frequencies from bass reflex cabinet
  • Natural mid-range through advanced damping materials

Center-Channel Speaker for Dialogue

The Sony SSCS8M2 is a dedicated center-channel speaker built to anchor dialogue in a home-theatre system. Its 3-way, 3-driver design focuses on vocal clarity and mid-range detail for movies and television. Sold individually, it pairs with matching left and right speakers to complete a front soundstage.

Sustained Output and Cabinet Tuning

A bass-reflex enclosure with a rear port extends low-frequency response during extended scenes without compression. Dual 3.94 in woofers share the load to keep distortion low at higher volumes. The lightweight voice coil and advanced damping materials maintain consistent sound pressure through long listening sessions.

Three-Driver Array Defines Coverage

The crossover splits signal between two 3.94 in woofers and a 0.98 in soft-dome tweeter, creating a wide horizontal dispersion pattern suited to centre-screen placement. Buyers needing a bookshelf pair or a subwoofer for .1 LFE effects should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How much heat or power draw should I expect from the SSCS8M2 when it runs all day in a home-theatre setup?

The SSCS8M2 is a passive speaker with no internal amplifier, so it generates no heat of its own and draws no power; all power and thermal load come from the connected AV receiver or amplifier.

What equipment must I already own to make this center-channel speaker work?

You need an AV receiver or stereo amplifier with a dedicated center-channel output and speaker cable to connect the SSCS8M2's binding posts.

Will the SSCS8M2 match the timbre of my older Sony CS-series bookshelf speakers in a 5.1 system?

Yes, the SSCS8M2 is designed to be timbre-matched with Sony CS-series speakers, so vocals and effects transition smoothly across the front soundstage.
