Southwire THHN 12 AWG Blue Stranded Wire

Southwire 58018405 is a 2000 ft coil of THHN building wire with a single 12 AWG stranded copper conductor in blue PVC insulation rated for 600 V. It suits electricians and contractors pulling branch circuits through conduit in residential or light commercial projects.

CoilPAK packaging simplifies handling

The wire ships in a CoilPAK coil that pays out cleanly without tangling, reducing setup time on site and allowing the 2000 ft length to be managed by one person. No separate reel or dispenser is required, so the packaging itself changes how the product is deployed day to day.

Stranded conductor and 0.13 in outside diameter

The 7-strand construction makes the conductor flexible enough for tight bends while the nominal 0.13 in outside diameter fits standard 12 AWG connector bodies and conduit fill calculations. The blue insulation identifies the circuit at a glance and the PVC jacket resists abrasion during pulling.

Questions about this item

How often should the PVC insulation on this 12 AWG THHN wire be inspected for cracking or degradation?

Inspect the PVC insulation periodically for cracks, abrasion or discoloration, especially after pulling through conduit or exposure to sunlight; replace any damaged sections to maintain the 600 V rating.

What is the maximum continuous current before the 0.13 in diameter stranded conductor becomes the limiting factor?

The 12 AWG stranded copper conductor with 7 strands is rated for up to 20 A in typical branch-circuit use; sustained loads above that will hit the ampacity limit first.

Does the blue PVC jacket add noticeable heat or odor when the wire runs at full load all day?

The PVC insulation remains stable at the 600 V rating; normal operation at or below 20 A produces minimal heat and no detectable odor in open air or conduit.
