Two 20-pin stackable headers connect ESP32 Thing boards to shield modules for power, environmental or motion projects
This set provides two 20-pin stackable headers designed specifically for the SparkFun ESP32 Thing. They enable a secure connection between the development board and compatible ESP32 Shield boards. Makers and engineers can quickly add power control, environmental or motion shields without soldering permanent joints. The headers keep the platform modular for iterative prototyping.
Each header uses a 1x20 pin layout with extended legs that accept another board on top. The 20 pins per strip match the ESP32 Thing edge footprint, so shields align without adapters. Gold-plated contacts resist oxidation during repeated mating cycles. The stackable height clears most through-hole components on the base board, keeping the assembly low-profile for bench use.
The headers are passive copper alloy parts with no active cooling or semiconductor junctions. They add negligible series resistance to signal and power lines under normal shield currents. No fan, heatsink or external supply is required for the headers themselves. Temperature rise stays within the limits of the attached shields and the ESP32 Thing during typical development workloads.

The headers are made to work with the ESP32 Thing board layout for direct shield connection.
The set provides two 1x20 headers that align with the ESP32 Thing edge pins for shield stacking.
Solder each 20-pin header onto the ESP32 Thing pins, then align and press the shield onto the extended pins.
