What this breaker does
The SQUARE D QO130GFI is a 30 A single-pole ground-fault circuit interrupter rated for 120 V AC and 48 V DC. It plugs into QO and NQ load centres and provides Class A 5 mA ground-fault protection for branch circuits in residential or light-commercial panels.
When to fit this device
It replaces a standard 30 A QO breaker when code requires ground-fault protection on the same circuit. The jump is worth it on kitchen, bathroom, garage or outdoor branch circuits where personnel protection is mandated and the panel is a compatible QO or NQ series with a 100 A frame.
Installation notes
The breaker mounts by plug-in action and uses pressure-plate terminals for the load conductor. Common issues include inserting it into a non-QO panel, exceeding the 10 kA interrupting rating at 120 V AC, or forgetting that the paddle actuator adds 4.1 in of length inside the enclosure.

Questions about this item
What panelboards does the QO130GFI plug into?
It plugs into QO load centres and NQ panelboards with a 100 A QO frame size.
How do you seat the breaker and where do installers go wrong?
Push the paddle actuator firmly until it clicks onto the bus; the common error is stopping before the plug-in mount fully engages.
When should the 5 mA Class A GFCI be tested or replaced?
Test the ground-fault trip monthly using the paddle; replace the breaker if it fails to trip or after any fault event.
