Digital RPG for PC

FINAL FANTASY VIII arrives as a Steam downloadable game coded SE117 from Square Enix. The classic action RPG launches through a digital licence tied to a Steam account. ESRB rates the title T for Teen because of blood, fantasy violence, language and mild suggestive themes.

Solo players wanting a legacy port

The package suits anyone ready to activate a single Steam key on Windows. Multiplayer enthusiasts or collectors who want physical media should look elsewhere because the product delivers only an online code with no disc or cartridge.

Steam library addition for modern Windows

Installation asks for 3.52GB of hard-disk space and a DirectX 9.0c graphics device. Minimum specs call for a 2GHz single-core CPU and 1024MB RAM on Windows XP through 8 in 32 or 64-bit. Recommended specs raise the bar to a Core2 Duo at 3GHz with 2GB RAM and a GeForce 9600 GT or faster.

Questions about this item

What operating system must my PC already run to install this download code?

The game requires Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8 in either 32 or 64-bit editions, plus a Steam account for activation.

Will the game run on an older DirectX 9 graphics card I still have?

Yes, the minimum spec calls for any DirectX 9.0c compatible video card, so legacy GPUs that support that version will work.

How can I confirm the game launched correctly after redeeming the code?

The title screen should appear and the opening cinematic with Squall and Seifer will play once the 3.52 GB installation finishes.
