SQUARE ENIX USA Shenmue 3 ps4 video game

Shenmue III on PlayStation 4

This new PlayStation 4 game continues the long-running saga created by Yu Suzuki. Players control Ryo Hazuki, an 18-year-old martial artist searching for his father's killer across rural China. The adventure blends investigation, combat and daily life simulation in a detailed open world. It is made for fans of story-driven action adventures.

Gameplay systems and console performance

The single-player experience runs on standard PlayStation 4 hardware without additional peripherals. Gameplay cycles between exploration, dialogue, quick-time events and arcade mini-games. The disc-based title loads areas as the story progresses through towns and mountain villages. No online connection is required for the core campaign.

Upgrading from earlier Shenmue entries

This installment advances the narrative directly from the second chapter after a long hiatus. It suits players who have completed the first two games and want the story conclusion. Newcomers without prior series knowledge may miss context for character relationships and ongoing mysteries. The jump is worth it for dedicated followers of Ryo's journey.
