SSP Tech LTD DW1506 Wireless Adapter

The SSP Tech LTD DW1506 is a half-size Mini PCI-E wireless adapter built around the Atheros AR5B125 and AR9485 chipsets. It is intended for laptops or small-form-factor systems that have an available Mini PCI-E slot and need basic Wi-Fi connectivity. The module uses the MNRG4/MXX0D part numbers referenced for Dell platforms.

Half Mini PCI-E slot required for installation

The card occupies a single half-height Mini PCI-E slot and connects to the system through that interface. Antenna cables must be attached to the onboard connectors for wireless operation. It does not fit full-size Mini PCI-E or M.2 Key E slots, so builders without a compatible half-size slot cannot use this adapter.

Questions about this item

What limits sustained throughput on the AR5B125 during long transfers?

The AR5B125 is a single-stream adapter, so its maximum link rate caps sustained throughput before thermal limits become a factor.

How much heat or fan noise does the DW1506 add when running all day?

The half-size Mini PCI-E module draws very little power and has no active cooling, so it adds negligible heat and no audible noise during continuous use.
