Portable Letter-Size File Tote

The Staples ST57622 is a durable plastic file box designed to hold letter-sized hanging folders on built-in rails. A hinged lid with a multi-compartment organiser tray keeps pens, business cards and small supplies accessible. A secure buckle latch and sturdy handle make it suitable for transport between home, office and mobile workspaces. Hanging folders are sold separately.

Replaces Loose Stacks and Open Boxes

This tote upgrades from unsecured piles or basic cardboard boxes by adding a lockable lid, integrated rails and a built-in supply tray. The jump is worth it when documents must stay in order during frequent moves or when small items need a dedicated spot that travels with the files. It does not serve buyers who need legal-size capacity or fire-rated protection.

Simple Setup With One Common Pitfall

No tools are required; simply snap hanging folders onto the moulded rails and close the lid until the latch clicks. The main issue arises if folders are overstuffed, preventing the lid from latching securely and risking spills during transport. Ensure the organiser tray contents lie flat so the hinge closes fully.

Questions about this item

What are the external dimensions of the ST57622 tote so I can check it fits my shelf?

The tote measures 13.85 inches long, 10.1 inches wide and 11.7 inches high.

How do I secure the lid before carrying it, and what step is often missed?

Close the hinged lid fully, then snap the front security latch; the latch will not engage if the lid is not completely flush.

Will the built-in lid organizer compartments need replacement, or do they last the life of the box?

The organizer is moulded into the lid and is not removable, so it lasts as long as the tote itself.
