Desktop 1D/2D imager barcode scanner

The Star Micronics desktop imager reads both 1D and 2D barcodes at up to 2.5 m/s motion tolerance. It connects via USB cable and is compatible with mC-Print and mPOP systems. A top-mounted switch toggles between normal and high-motion-tolerance modes for flexible workflow.

Thermals noise and power draw

The scanner draws power directly from the USB connection, eliminating the need for an external supply. With no moving parts, it operates silently in typical retail or hospitality environments. The IP52-rated housing resists dust and dripping water during daily use.

Bundled accessories and software impact

The included USB cable provides immediate plug-and-play connectivity to supported Star Micronics printers. On-screen capture and an infrared sensor enable reliable reading from mobile displays even with protective film. High-motion mode extends usability for fast-paced scanning without additional configuration.

Questions about this item

How do I install the USB cable and what step do people miss?

Plug the USB cable into the host device; the step often missed is using the top switch to select normal or high-motion-tolerance mode before scanning.

What maintenance or replacement will the imager need later?

The IP52-rated housing resists dust and drips; clean the scan window periodically and replace the unit if the imager fails to read 1D or 2D codes.

What limit appears first under sustained high-speed scanning?

Motion tolerance tops out at 2.5 m/s; beyond that speed the imager cannot reliably capture on-screen or printed barcodes.
