Compact GaN Power for USB-C Laptops

This 65 W gallium-nitride charger targets owners of USB-C laptops such as Dell XPS 13, HP ProBook, Lenovo X1 Carbon and MacBook Pro models. It delivers full-rated power from a brick that is smaller and lighter than traditional silicon adapters, making it suited to daily carry and travel.

Thermals Noise and Power Draw

GaN semiconductors run cooler than silicon equivalents at the same load, so the brick stays warm rather than hot during sustained 65 W output. No fan is present, so operation is silent. The unit draws only the power required by the attached device up to its 65 W maximum.

Detachable Cable and Broad Compatibility

A 6.6 ft detachable USB-C cable is included, allowing replacement or length changes without discarding the power brick. The charger supports the USB Power Delivery profiles used by the listed notebooks, tablets and Samsung Galaxy smartphones, so one adapter covers multiple devices. Build quality follows StarTech’s commercial-grade standards for daily professional use.

Questions about this item

How do I install the charger and what step do people often miss?

Plug the detachable 6.6ft USB-C cable into the GaN power adapter brick, then connect the USB-C end to your laptop; the step often missed is ensuring the cable clicks fully into the brick before plugging into the device.

What maintenance or replacement will this charger need later?

The 6.6ft USB-C cable is detachable, so if it frays or the connector wears out you can replace only the cable instead of the whole 65W unit.

What limit appears first during sustained use?

The charger delivers a fixed 65W maximum, so under continuous heavy load the power ceiling is reached before any thermal throttle on the GaN brick.
