Dual 4K USB-C Docking Station

This USB-C docking station adds two external 4K monitors to a laptop using one DisplayPort and one HDMI output. It supports Windows 7 through 10, macOS 10.11 to 10.14, and Chrome OS v55 or later. The dock is designed for users who need a compact multi-display workstation with integrated power delivery.

Sustained Workload Behaviour

The DisplayPort output runs through DisplayLink technology at 4K 30Hz while the HDMI output uses DP Alt Mode at 4K 30Hz. Both video paths maintain stable output during extended sessions without thermal throttling. Gigabit Ethernet and four USB 3.0 ports provide consistent throughput for peripherals and network traffic under continuous load.

Installation Notes

Connect the dock to the laptop USB-C port; drivers for DisplayLink install automatically on Windows and macOS. The 60W Power Delivery 2.0 charges the host while the dock operates. Some macOS versions between 10.12 and 10.14 may require a manual driver download. The SD 4.0 UHS-II card reader is recognised immediately on all supported operating systems.

Questions about this item

Does the dock run hot or loud when driving two 4K monitors at 30 Hz all day?

The unit has no fan and draws up to 60 W for laptop charging; typical warmth is comparable to a standard USB-C power adapter.

My laptop only has one USB-C port — will that single connection run both displays, Ethernet and the card reader?

Yes — one USB-C cable carries video for the DisplayPort and HDMI outputs, Gigabit Ethernet, four USB-A ports and the SD 4.0 reader simultaneously.

Will the DisplayPort output work on my older monitor that only accepts 1080p at 60 Hz?

The DisplayPort output scales down automatically, so a 1080p 60 Hz display works without extra adapters.
