Quad 4K 60Hz docking station

The StarTech DK31C4DPPD connects up to four 4K 60Hz monitors through DisplayPort or HDMI using DisplayLink technology. It works with Windows 10 64-bit, macOS 10.14 through 11.0 and Chrome OS 61.x hosts via a USB-C 10 Gbps upstream link. Thunderbolt 3 and 4 laptops are also supported.

Passive cooling with 100W power delivery

The aluminium enclosure dissipates heat without fans, so the unit runs silently on a desk. A barrel connector supplies up to 100W of Power Delivery to charge the host laptop while the dock drives four displays and peripherals. The dock itself draws power from the included external adapter.

Compact hub with gigabit Ethernet and audio

Measuring 1.80 by 8.50 by 3.50 inches and weighing 0.73 lb, the dock fits beside a laptop without blocking ports. It adds three USB-A 5 Gbps ports, one USB-C 10 Gbps port with 15W charging, gigabit Ethernet with PXE boot and wake-on-LAN, and a TRRS headset jack. A Kensington lock slot secures the device physically.

Questions about this item

How do I connect four 4K 60Hz monitors to the DK31C4DPPD and which step do people miss?

Install the DisplayLink driver first, then plug each monitor into the four DisplayPort or HDMI ports; the step most people miss is installing the driver before connecting the displays.

What part will need replacement first on the DK31C4DPPD?

The 100W barrel power adapter (OD 7.4 mm, ID 5.1 mm) is the only external wear item; the dock itself has no fan or user-serviceable parts.

What limit appears first when the DK31C4DPPD runs all four 4K 60Hz outputs continuously?

Sustained quad 4K 60Hz output relies on the DisplayLink compression engine and the host USB-C 10 Gbps link; thermal throttling of the dock's controller is the first bottleneck under continuous load.
