A 6 ft active cable converts a DisplayPort source to a VGA display at up to 1920 x 1200 resolution
The StarTech DP2VGAMM6B is a six-foot active cable that converts a DisplayPort output to a VGA input. It is intended for users who need to connect a modern DP-equipped desktop or laptop to a legacy VGA monitor or projector without a separate adapter block.
The integrated Analogix 9832 chipset actively translates the digital signal, supporting video resolutions up to 1920 by 1200. The cable draws operating power directly from the DisplayPort source, so no external supply is required, and the latching 20-pin connector remains secure during normal use.
The single male-to-male assembly replaces a separate adapter plus cable, reducing clutter at the workstation. Audio is not carried, so a separate audio path is needed for sound. The fixed six-foot length suits typical desk-to-display distances but cannot be extended or shortened.

Insert the DisplayPort end into the PC until the latch clicks, then screw the VGA end into the monitor or projector; the latch must be squeezed to release it.
No firmware updates are required and the converter draws all power from the DisplayPort connection, so no separate supply is needed.
The cable is rated for 1920x1200 maximum resolution; sustained use at that resolution is the limit, with no higher refresh rates or resolutions supported.
