Adds an RS-232 serial port via USB 2.0 with DB9 and DB25 connectors, 250 Kbps transfer rate, and a 512-byte FIFO buffer
Style DB9 or DB25
This cable adds a single RS-232 serial port to a notebook or desktop through a USB 2.0 Type-A connection. It includes a DB9-to-DB25 pin adapter so the same lead can serve both 9-pin and 25-pin D-sub equipment. The link is USB-powered and requires no external supply. Plug-and-play operation suits field-service engineers and legacy-device integrators who need a quick serial port without opening the chassis.
The Prolific PL-2303 chipset maintains a maximum serial rate of 250 Kbps under continuous load rather than only in short bursts. A 512-byte bi-directional FIFO buffers data to reduce host interrupts during long transfers. Configurable data bits from four to eight, stop bits of one, one-and-a-half or two, and selectable parity let the link match legacy instrument settings without data loss over extended sessions.
The 3 ft lead terminates in a male DB-9 connector and a male USB 2.0 Type-A plug; the bundled adapter converts the DB-9 to a male DB-25 when 25-pin RS-232 is required. All connectors are moulded in black and the assembly weighs 2.47 oz. The short length keeps the setup tidy on a bench or in a rack but limits reach to nearby ports.

Other versions of this model
The adapter is USB powered and needs no external supply; the PL2303 chip runs at up to 250 Kbps with a 512-byte FIFO, keeping power draw and heat low during all-day use.
Your computer needs a standard USB 2.0 Type-A port; the cable plugs directly into that port and requires no additional hardware.
Yes, the supplied DB9-to-DB25 pin adapter converts the cable's DB9 male connector to a DB25 male interface for 25-pin serial equipment.
