Controls two computers from one DisplayPort monitor, keyboard and mouse at 4K 60 Hz with bus power and remote switching
The StarTech SV211DPUA4K lets a single DisplayPort monitor, USB keyboard, mouse and stereo audio serve two host computers. It supports 3840 x 2160 resolution at 60 Hz and draws power from the USB bus so no external adapter is required. The compact unit includes integrated 4 ft cables for a tidy desktop.
Connect the built-in cables to each computer and the console peripherals to the front panel; the switch is ready to use without drivers. Switching is done by the push button on the unit, configurable hotkeys or the supplied software, though hotkeys and software need a supported operating system. Auto-scan intervals of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 or 60 seconds are available.
Each host must provide a DisplayPort output and a USB Type-A port for the integrated cables. The shared monitor must accept 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz over DisplayPort. Hotkey and software switching work on Windows 2000 through 10, Windows Server 2003 through 2019 and Mac OS 10.6 to 10.9; push-button switching works regardless of OS. Buyers needing more than two computer ports or higher refresh rates should consider other models.
