The StarTech.com 065030895002 adds two external PCIe 3.0 x16 slots to any Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 laptop or desktop. It delivers a combined 32Gbps bandwidth with up to 21.6Gbps per slot for high-speed add-in cards. The toolless aluminium enclosure supports video capture, high-speed networking, NVMe storage and FireWire expansion.

Host port and power budget

Verify that your system provides a Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 port able to supply the required upstream bandwidth. Each slot delivers 25W and the dual internal 12V 15W SATA connectors allow up to 40W per card. The included 120W universal power adapter must be connected for the chassis to operate.

Aluminium build and daily use

The sturdy aluminium chassis dissipates heat without fans and fits single-width cards in a toolless layout. A DisplayPort 1.4 connection on the enclosure enables 8K or 5K at 60Hz and dual 4K at 60Hz video output. Buyers needing double-width cards or more than two slots cannot use this chassis.
