4-Port HDMI 4K Switch for Single Display

The StarTech VS421HD4KA connects four HDMI sources to one HDMI display. It supports 4K resolution at 30 Hz and includes fast switching to minimise disruption when changing inputs. The unit handles 7.1 surround sound audio and comes with a remote control, universal power adapter, RS-232 serial cable and mounting kit. It is designed for home-theatre or professional AV installations that need reliable source selection.

Suited for Multi-Source Setups Not for 4K 60 Hz

This switch suits users who have several 4K30 or 1080p devices such as media players, consoles or PCs and want to view them on a single screen without swapping cables. The included IR remote and RS-232 interface allow both manual and automated control. Buyers who require 4K at 60 Hz, HDR pass-through or HDCP 2.2 support should look at a different model because this device is limited to a 30 Hz refresh rate at 4K resolution.

Maximum 4K 30 Hz Refresh Rate

The decisive specification is the maximum supported resolution of 3840x2160 at 30 Hz. All four inputs and the single output share this limit, so any source outputting 4K at a higher frame rate will not display correctly. Lower resolutions including 2560x1600, 1920x1200 and 1080p are fully supported at their native rates. Verify that your sources and display operate within this 30 Hz ceiling before purchasing.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the VS421HD4KA is switching correctly after connecting four sources to one display?

The front-panel LEDs show which of the four HDMI inputs is active; the display should show 3840x2160 at 30 Hz with 7.1 surround sound passing through without interruption.

What comes in the box and what must I provide myself?

The package includes the switch, remote control, universal power adapter, RJ11 cable, RJ11-to-DB-9 adapter, mounting kit and quick start guide; you supply four HDMI source cables and one HDMI display cable.

Should I choose this 4K 30 Hz model or look for a 60 Hz version?

This model supports 3840x2160 at 30 Hz and lower resolutions such as 2560x1600 and 1920x1080; if your sources and display require 4K at 60 Hz you need a different switch.
