Child Life Jacket 30-50 lbs

The Stearns Classic Child Life Jacket is designed for children weighing 30 to 50 pounds. It provides buoyancy for general boating, personal watercraft use and waterskiing. An adjustable leg strap and three buckles give redundant security. The vest is United States Coast Guard approved.

Durable Nylon Construction

The jacket uses comfortable, durable nylon that resists wear during regular water activity. Open sides allow airflow so the child stays cooler while underway. No powered components are present, so there is no noise, heat or electrical draw to manage. The materials are made to withstand repeated exposure to sun and spray.

Adjustable Fit and Safety Features

A 1 inch webbing system and three buckles let you tighten the vest securely around the torso and leg. The leg strap prevents the jacket from riding up in the water. Bright blue and grey colours improve visibility on busy waterways. The design suits parents who want a straightforward, approved flotation aid for young swimmers.

Questions about this item

How do I install the Stearns Classic Child Life Jacket and what step is often missed?

Place the jacket on the child, fasten all three buckles securely, then adjust the 1-inch webbing straps for a snug fit. The adjustable leg strap is the step most often missed; it must be buckled between the legs to prevent the vest from riding up in the water.

What maintenance or replacement will the Stearns Classic Child Life Jacket need later?

Rinse with fresh water after each use and air dry away from direct heat. Inspect the nylon fabric, three buckles, 1-inch webbing, and leg strap for wear or fraying before every outing. Replace the vest immediately if buoyancy materials degrade, hardware fails, or the child exceeds the 50-pound weight limit.

What limit appears first during sustained use of the Stearns Classic Child Life Jacket?

The 50-pound maximum weight capacity is the primary limit; once the wearer exceeds 50 pounds, the vest no longer provides adequate buoyancy. Continuous exposure to sun, salt, and abrasion can also degrade the nylon and webbing over time, reducing effective flotation before the weight limit is reached.
