Wired gaming mouse with TrueMove Core sensor

The SteelSeries Rival 3 Gen 2 is a wired gaming mouse built around a TrueMove Core optical sensor. It weighs 77g and connects via USB for a stable 2.4GHz link. The symmetrical shape suits right-handed palm and claw grips. Six programmable buttons and three-zone Prism RGB lighting are configurable through SteelSeries Engine software.

Practical limits of the USB wired interface

A wired USB connection removes battery life concerns and provides consistent 1000Hz polling. The 1.35ms click latency keeps input delay low for competitive play. The braided paracord cable reduces drag, while 100% PTFE feet deliver smooth glide. The sensor scales from 100 to 8500 DPI in 100 DPI steps for precise sensitivity tuning.

60 million click switch durability

The primary switches are rated for 60 million clicks, setting the expected lifespan for heavy daily use. This figure determines whether the mouse fits a high-volume gaming or work schedule. Buyers who need a higher click-life rating or a wireless form factor should consider other options.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 100 DPI starting point or the 8500 DPI maximum for my games?

The sensor adjusts in 100 DPI steps from 100 to 8500 DPI; choose a lower setting for precise aim in shooters and raise it for fast turns in MOBA or battle-royale titles.

What does the 1.35 ms click latency mean when I am actually playing?

It measures the delay between a physical click and the signal reaching the PC, so actions register almost instantly in fast-paced matches.

How does the USB interface limit the 1000 Hz polling rate in practice?

The wired USB connection sustains the full 1000 Hz polling rate, giving a consistent 1 ms report interval without the bandwidth limits that can affect wireless models.
