Versatile Precision Gaming Mouse

The SteelSeries Rival 5 62551 is a right-handed optical mouse built for fast-paced genres including Battle Royale, FPS, MOBA and MMO. It weighs 85g and offers a TrueMove Air sensor with 18000 dpi, 400 IPS and 40G acceleration. Nine programmable buttons include a five-button side panel and a custom toggle switch for quick actions. PrismSync lighting provides 10 zones of 16.8 million colours.

Connectivity and Tracking Limits

The mouse connects via 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth or a wired USB cable. The optical sensor delivers true 1-to-1 tracking with tilt tracking to reduce unwanted cursor movement during angled drops or quick flicks. Golden Micro IP54 switches are rated for durability. No internal battery capacity or charging time is specified in the supplied data.

Setup Requirements

A free USB port is required for the wired or 2.4 GHz connection. The 9-button layout is designed for right-handed use only. Software is needed to programme buttons and configure PrismSync lighting effects. Buyers who need a left-handed or ambidextrous shape should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the wired or the 2.4 GHz wireless mode for the Rival 5?

The mouse works both ways — plug it in for a direct USB link or use the 2.4 GHz receiver for cable-free play.

What does the 18000 dpi sensor deliver in actual gameplay?

TrueMove Air gives true 1-to-1 tracking at up to 18000 CPI, 400 IPS and 40G acceleration with tilt tracking to cancel unwanted drift on fast flicks.

How does the Bluetooth interface limit performance compared with the other connections?

Bluetooth is available for pairing but the 2.4 GHz link and wired USB provide the full 18000 CPI, 400 IPS and 40G specs for competitive gaming.
