Two-port 10 Gbps SFP+ adapter using a PCI Express 2.0 slot for 10 Gigabit networking
This Sun Oracle network adapter adds two 10 Gbps SFP+ ports through a PCI Express 2.0 x1 lane. It targets servers or workstations that need high-speed fibre or direct-attach copper links without a full x8 slot. The low-profile bracket fits standard and slim chassis alike. Buyers who need more than two ports or a newer PCIe generation should look elsewhere.
The card ships with no transceivers or cables, so you must supply compatible SFP+ optics or DACs for each port. No driver disc or management utility is included; the operating system or Sun/Oracle support channels provide the necessary software. Without installed modules the ports remain inactive, so budget for the appropriate fibre or copper media.
Each port is rated at 10 Gbps, but the single-lane PCIe 2.0 host interface caps aggregate throughput at roughly 5 Gbps. Full line-rate traffic on both ports simultaneously cannot be sustained. Latency-sensitive workloads should account for this bottleneck when planning link utilisation.

The adapter ships with two SFP+ cages; compatible transceivers or direct-attach cables are purchased separately to match the fibre or copper link required.
The PCIe 2.0 x1 interface caps aggregate throughput at 5 Gbps, so sustained dual-port line rate will hit the bus limit before the 10 Gbps MACs saturate.
The card uses passive heatsink cooling with no onboard fan, so it produces zero acoustic noise and only modest warmth under full load.
