Automatic pencil sharpening

The Sunzo SZ8803 is a battery-powered sharpener that automatically feeds a pencil in and ejects it once sharpened. It accepts both graphite and coloured pencils and offers three selectable point styles: sharp, medium, or blunt. The rechargeable cell is topped up via a Type-C port, so no mains cable is needed during use. A detachable shavings tray makes emptying quick and tidy.

Who this suits and who it does not

Teachers, students, and office workers who want hands-free sharpening without hunting for a socket will appreciate the cordless operation. Artists who switch between writing and shading benefit from the adjustable tip settings. Buyers who need to sharpen very large-diameter pencils or who require continuous high-volume use without recharging pauses should look at a mains-powered alternative.

The specification that decides fit

The sharpener weighs 0.34 kilograms and measures 8.2042 by 8.4074 by 16.4084 centimetres, making it compact enough to sit on a desk or slip into a bag. If your workspace or carrying case cannot accommodate those dimensions, this model will not fit.

Questions about this item

How much desk space does the 8.2042 L x 8.4074 W cm footprint need?

The sharpener occupies a footprint of 8.2042 L x 8.4074 W centimetres and stands 16.4084 cm tall, so allow that area plus a little clearance for the shavings tray to slide out.

What is the correct way to charge the built-in battery before first use?

How often will the helical blade need replacing under classroom use?

The hardened helical blade is rated for thousands of sharpenings; in a typical classroom it lasts a full school year before a replacement cartridge is needed.
