Aftermarket trigger switch rated 24/12A at 125/250V replaces Makita 651172-0 for circular saws and grinders
The Superior Electric L50 trigger switch is a direct aftermarket replacement for the Makita 651172-0 switch found in many Makita circular saws and grinders. It restores on/off control, variable-speed operation and the electric-braking function that momentarily reverses polarity. Switches degrade mechanically with use, so this part returns the tool to reliable operation.
Replace the original switch when the trigger feels loose, the tool fails to start consistently or variable speed and braking no longer work. The L50 is rated 24/12A at 125/250V, matching the electrical demands of the saws and grinders that use the 651172-0. It is not for tools that require a different amperage rating, a different voltage range or a different mounting pattern.
Installation involves opening the tool housing, disconnecting the old switch leads and fitting the new switch in the same location; basic hand tools are usually sufficient. Common problems include misrouting the wires so the trigger binds, forgetting to re-engage the brake spring or using a switch with the wrong terminal layout. Double-check polarity and mechanical alignment before reassembling the tool.
