Adds 8 internal ports supporting up to 16 devices with a 100-Ohm SlimSAS x8 connector
The Supermicro AOC-S3908L-H8IR-16DD-O adds eight internal SAS3 ports to a server chassis. A single SlimSAS x8 connector rated at 100 Ohm links the card to the backplane. With an expander it supports up to 16 physical devices.
Builders who need multiple independent host links cannot use this card because it provides only one SlimSAS x8 connection. The 16-device maximum also caps growth for larger arrays.

With an expander attached, the controller can address up to 16 physical drives or other supported devices from the single internal connection.
The 100-Ohm black SlimSAS x8 link carries eight lanes, limiting total throughput to the bandwidth of that single x8 connection.
