  • Active power factor correction improves electrical efficiency
  • Built-in protection guards against over-voltage, over-current and short circuits

740W 1U Redundant Power Supply

The Supermicro PWS-741P-1R is a hot-swappable redundant unit rated at 740W output. It targets operators of compatible Supermicro 1U servers who need continuous uptime and the ability to replace a module without shutting down the system.

Platinum Efficiency Limits

Rated at 80 Plus Platinum, the supply reaches 94% efficiency under typical loads. The practical limit is the single 740W output ceiling; any configuration drawing more power will exceed the module capacity and require additional units or a different platform.

Card-Edge Connector and Protection

A card-edge connector mates directly with the backplane of supported 1U chassis, removing cable clutter in dense racks. Embedded protective circuitry guards against over-voltage, over-current and short-circuit events, while RoHS compliance confirms restricted-substance adherence for regulated deployments.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 740W Platinum unit or a lower-wattage model for my 1U server?

Select the 740W model when your 1U chassis requires that output level; the Platinum rating delivers 94% efficiency at typical loads.

What does the 94% efficiency figure mean once the supply is installed in a live server?

At normal operating loads the unit converts 94% of AC input into DC output, so less energy becomes heat inside the rack.

How does the card-edge connector limit which systems can use this supply?

The card-edge connector mates only with compatible Supermicro 1U backplanes, so the supply fits only those chassis.
