A 32 GB SATA disk-on-module that plugs directly into a server board for boot or OS storage without a separate power cable
This 32 GB SATA disk-on-module plugs directly into a serverboard SATA connector and functions as a solid-state boot drive, licence key store or OS installation device. It replaces a mechanical hard drive with no moving parts and a typical power draw of roughly 1 W to 2 W. The module is built for Supermicro server platforms and operates at SATA 6 Gb/s speeds.
Unlike many competing SATA DOMs, this unit draws power from the SATA connector itself, so a separate 5 V cable is unnecessary. The design still remains backward compatible with boards that do provide the extra power line, simplifying cabling and improving reliability in dense chassis.
Confirm the target serverboard has an accessible SATA connector with enough physical space around it for the module body. Check that the system BIOS or UEFI supports booting from a SATA DOM and that a 32 GB capacity meets the intended OS or recovery image size.

The Supermicro Super DOM does not require a 5V power cable due to its optimized design, though it remains backward compatible with server boards that still use one.
Power consumption is approximately 1W to 2W per SATA DOM, which is significantly lower than the 6W to 7W typical of a traditional hard disk drive.
With no moving parts, the SATA DOM operates silently and generates minimal heat compared to a standard HDD, aiding overall system thermal management.
