SUPERSONIC SC1082SS 9-Band AM/FM/SW Radio

9-Band AM/FM/SW Portable Radio

The Supersonic SC1082SS is a compact, lightweight radio that covers AM, FM and shortwave bands one through seven. It adds MP3 playback through built-in USB and microSD slots, making it a single device for broadcast listening and personal audio files. A 360-degree antenna and high-sensitivity tuner aim to pull in distant stations. The unit weighs 2.05 and includes an integrated emergency torch.

Installation and common issues

Power the radio from the included AC adapter set for 120/240V with a flat-pin plug, or insert three D cells for DC 4.5V operation (cells not supplied). The rechargeable battery runs the torch for 8-10 hours and the radio for about 2 hours per charge. Users sometimes forget to switch the AC input voltage selector, and the short internal battery life means frequent recharging during extended listening sessions.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

Campers, hikers and emergency-preparedness kits benefit from the multi-band coverage, flashlight and off-grid power options. Buyers who want more storage than a microSD card provides, or who need Bluetooth or Wi-Fi streaming, should look at a different device. The limited radio runtime on a single charge also makes it less suitable for all-day listening without access to mains power or spare D cells.
