Supersuperuncle 1.25G 850nm Multimode Module

This optical module provides a 1.25G data rate over multimode fibre at an 850nm wavelength. It is designed for network administrators and system integrators who need a compatible transceiver for Finisar SFP FTLF8519P3BNL equipment. The unit supports link distances up to 500 metres. It is supplied new and ready for installation.

500 metre reach at 1.25G

The 500 metre reach at 1.25G is the specification that decides whether this module fits the link budget. Shorter runs will work, but longer multimode spans require a different wavelength or single-mode hardware. Buyers needing extended distance over multimode fibre should verify the requirement before ordering.

Questions about this item

What does the 1.25G speed rating mean when the module is installed in a switch or server?

The module is built for 1.25 Gbps Gigabit Ethernet links, so it will negotiate at that line rate when paired with a compatible SFP port.

The LC duplex interface uses 850 nm multimode fibre — what distance does that wavelength cap in practice?

At 850 nm over OM2 multimode fibre the module is rated for 500 metres, which is the practical reach limit for this wavelength.
