Compatible server power supply

This 460 watt unit replaces IBM part numbers 39Y7231 39Y7230 39Y7228 and 81Y6558 in X3550M3 and X3650M3 systems. It is a new component built to match the original form factor and connector layout for direct installation. Administrators maintaining these rack servers can use it to restore redundant power or replace a failed module.

Sustained load behaviour

The supply delivers its rated 460 watts continuously within the thermal limits of the supported chassis. It is not intended for platforms that require higher wattage or different mechanical keying, and it does not support hot-swap redundancy on systems outside the listed models.

Questions about this item

How loud is the fan in this 460W supply when the X3550 M3 runs continuously?

The unit uses the same cooling design as the original IBM 460W modules, so fan speed ramps with internal temperature under server management control.

Does this replacement need any extra cables or brackets to fit an X3650 M3?

It matches the IBM 39Y7231 form factor and plugs directly into the server's hot-swap bay without additional parts.
