IBM x236 670W Replacement Power Supply

This new 670W server power supply fits the IBM x236 power cage using part numbers 74P4458 and 74P4457. It is built for administrators who need a direct replacement unit to restore redundant power in that specific chassis. The unit matches the original form factor and connector layout for the x236 platform.

Upgrades failed or missing modules in the x236 cage

Use this supply when an existing module has failed or when a redundant slot is empty and the system alerts on power loss. The jump is worth it only if the chassis is an IBM x236 and the original part numbers match; it will not fit other server models or power cages.

Questions about this item

Will this 670W unit fit the IBM x236 power cage without modification?

Yes, the unit is built for the IBM x236 server power cage and matches the 74P4458 and 74P4457 form factor, so it slides into the existing bay without any chassis changes.

What is the common mistake when installing this supply into the x236 cage?

The latch on the handle must be fully depressed while sliding the unit in; releasing it too early leaves the supply unseated and the server will not power on.
