Dell OptiPlex SFF replacement PSU

This power supply replaces the L235P-01 and H235P-00 units found in Dell OptiPlex 760 780 960 and 980 small form factor systems. It fits the proprietary connector layout used by those chassis. Builders upgrading other platforms cannot use this unit.

Thermals noise and power draw

The supply delivers 235 watts through the original Dell pinout for the listed models. Fan speed follows the system thermal curve so acoustics match the OEM profile. Power draw scales with the installed components up to the rated limit.

Questions about this item

How do I install the L235P-01 power supply in a Dell 760, and which step is often missed?

Slide the unit into the chassis until the latch clicks, then reconnect the 24-pin motherboard and 4-pin CPU cables; the step often missed is fully seating the latch so the supply locks in place.

What maintenance will the H235P-00 unit need later?

Clean the intake vents with compressed air every few months to prevent dust buildup; the internal fan is not user-serviceable, so replacement means swapping the whole supply.
